Girls in Tourism Association – Africa (GITA-Africa) is a female youth-led organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women through tourism. While contributing to the growth and development of the tourism industry across Africa.
Founded on the belief that tourism has the power to transform lives, create opportunities, and drive sustainable development, GITA-Africa was established to address challenges affecting girls and young women within the sector while creating pathways for growth, leadership, mentorship, and professional advancement.
What began as a platform focused on supporting girls in tourism has gradually evolved into a dynamic network of young people, professionals, institutions, and industry stakeholders. Working together to create meaningful impact. Through our programmes, partnerships, and initiatives, we continue to champion the empowerment of girls while contributing to conversations, projects, and opportunities that strengthen tourism as a whole.
Today, GITA-Africa serves as a platform for learning, networking, mentorship, advocacy, innovation, leadership development, destination promotion, conservation awareness, and regional collaboration.
We remain committed to our original purpose of empowering girls through tourism, while recognizing that when girls are empowered, entire communities, destinations, and industries benefit.
