Project Activities

The programme is designed to engage young people progressively. Starting from primary school, through secondary school and into universities and other institutions. Introducing them to tourism, its opportunities, careers, culture, heritage, conservation and the different pathways through which they can participate and grow in the sector. We chose to begin with universities and institutions because this is where we have a large number of young people who are already studying tourism and related fields and beginning to understand where they want to go professionally. In just a week, we mobilised leaders from about 18 universities and institutions as follows; 1. Makerere University 2. MUBS Kampala 3. MUBS Mbarara 3. Kampala International University 4. Avance University 5. YMCA Wandegeya 6. Victoria University 7. Kabale University 8. IUIU Mbale 9. St. Lawrence University 10. Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI) 11. Uganda Wildlife and Research Training Institute (UWRTI) 12. Ndejje University 13. Nkumba University 14. Seeta University 15. Busitema University (Pallisa) 16. YMCA Buwambo With some joining us online because they were outside Kampala, I sat with the rest at Acacia Mall. I was grateful to be the uniting factor in something that has been difficult to achieve for a long time. Some of these leaders had previously tried to do this but all was in vain These leaders sit at a very important intersection. Between the students and university administrations. They are already connected to the students, they understand their needs, and they can help us open the right doors. We shared what we are building and discussed the possible opportunities. These leaders have committed to helping us connect with their administrations and students. We hope to collectively extend the same movement into secondary and primary schools in the shortest run.
